Interview with Stefan Grabler
Since the beginning of November, the Grapes now also has something to offer on Sundays. How did you come up with the idea of brunch?
With the start of our own Grapes label wine, we noticed that it tastes very good to us and our guests even at lunchtime.
We also noticed that the guests have a different culinary interest on Sundays than during the week.
Thus it was clear to us: We have to bring wine, breakfast buffet and lunch together. And thus, our brunch was invented exactly for that!
Furthermore, after a long shift on a Saturday night, there was no place for me to relax on Sundays with a good glass of wine brunch …!
Brunch is served often in Munich. What is so special about Brunch at Grapes?
That’s true. However, we asked around a bit and looked around what is going on in the “Brunch scene” in Munich and noticed that too often an “All inclusive” package is forced on the guests.
That means for 99€ the restaurant decides for the guest – starting from the water to the coffee up to the sparkling water.
But we want to give the guest the choice. Therefore, we offer a buffet and an additional favourite 3-course menu of your choice and you will still have enough money left over for the wine you really want to enjoy.
Speaking of your favourite 3-course menu. What is your current favourite dish on the current menu? (The interview was conducted in November)
Clearly the cold beef salad with beetle beans and horseradish. And a crunchy Green Veltliner.
And who would you go to Sunday brunch with?
With Falco hahahahahha…. Unfortunately not possible any more.
Nonsense… with people who appreciate enjoying good food and good wine in a relaxed atmosphere. And on Sundays to drink 1-2 glasses of wine (or even more).
P.S. We Austrians are usually spontaneous. But please book in advance, so that we can plan better.
